Our older pets often need a bit more care than their younger counterparts. SD Veterinary Hospital and our veterinarians are here to help them live long and comfortable lives. We encourage senior pet owners to bring their cats and dogs in for two (2) general health check ups with a veterinarian yearly. This allows us to keep track of any changes in their overall health, and identify illnesses in the earliest stages of the disease.
EARLY DIAGNOSIS
Early diagnosis is one of the best ways to keep veterinary care costs lower. We can begin managing diseases more effectively with smaller interventions, such as specialty food or supplements. Treatments for conditions such as arthritis and diabetes are often much more effective when started earlier. When you bring your pet into the clinic for regular testing, we have a baseline to compare future tests to, allowing for more personalized care.
Our veterinarians and facilities are well-equipped to handle a wide range of medical problems commonly seen in older pets. In house laboratory testing and diagnostics means faster answers for you and your pet. We also offer surgical solutions when your pet needs them in a safe and sterile environment.
